THE BARKLOW FAMILY TREE
Maria was the daughter of Jacques Cortelyou - a prominant citizen of New Amsterdam (later New York City) who was Surveyor General of that early Dutch colony. Cortelyou created the first known detailed map of New York City at that time. Maria married Willem Barkeloo in 1697 and died in 1738 at the age of 69.
