Johannes and his wife Agatha were born in the village of Schoenenbourg in Alsace, France.

They left their home for America in 1844 and settled in Strasburg, Illinois.

Ship name "Iowa" arrived in New York - Ellis Island in 1844. Johannes was 52 years old.

Research shows that they purchased a 334 acre farm for $1300.00 and "5 pieces of farm equipment"

They had 10 children together.
